Best Indian food in southeast Michigan, by far. Really good South Indian vegetarian food, made with fresh vegetables and subtle spices that are mixed with intention. The spicy dishes have good heat that augments the flavors of the ingredients and the chef does not drown his dishes in grease like so many Indian restaurants do in the US. They have a large selection of dosas, vada that is crispy and brown on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside, and idli that is perfect for sopping up the chef's hearty sambar. The weekend buffet is always filled with good dishes, and they keep everything fresh and well stocked. If you choose to order from the menu ask the very helpful and attentive staff to recommend something and you'll be happy. I've eaten in many restaurants in Chennai and would stack Chutney's up against the best of them. Enjoy!

I would like to add I have continued to come here and they never cease to amaze me with their veggie Indian food, the dal talks is out of this world, the hobo pepper fry is a great snack. I've learned my lesson trying other Indian food establishments. This is the only place I will order from.

This is some good Indian food. I came down to Michigan to visit my grandparents, and this place did not disappoint. The service and space is excellent. My only problem is how weird the T-series videos are.

Extraordinary food.Did party order yesterday in Lansing and everyone were amazed with food taste and quality. I have placed the party order after 10 years in same place and there is no change in quality and taste. It still remains excellent. Special kudos to Chef Perumal for his excellent job.

This place is really dark inside i wish the lighting was better. I really liked the plain dosa with the chutneys . The paneer masala dosa I didn't like as much but it's my fault because I never liked paneer all that much- I thought maybe it would be good this way. There are a lot of options for the dosas and I wish I ordered one of the other ones. The thali with rice and curries and naan is a lot so only get if you're willing to try everything. The chai was good. And lastly we were given a paan refresher which was interesting bc it's cumin seeds and mint I believe wrapped in betel leaf. I'm aware of paan in india where tobacco is wrapped in this leaf for chewing so it's interesting they do this because I've never seen it before.

Good if you like vegetarian Indian food. I stopped by because it was one of the few places open late on Easter. You will need a cell phone to read the menu - Q code. Water is only served in plastic bottles and is luke warm. Other than that, food is pretty spicy (hot). Service was good.

It seems MANY people have issues with this restaurant and their service. I'll admit when I visited we waited for a while (the sign says wait to be seated) but when no one came we just sorta walked around the corner. We eventually saw someone who worked here and they said sit anywhere. Everything did go up from there. Their menus are digital so you just scan the barcode on your phone and look at their menu online. We ordered Veg Manchurian, which are deep fried vegetable balls sautéed with manchurian sauce. They were tasty! For an entree I knew I wanted something with curry so I ordered the Paneer Masala which came with white rice. It was very tasty as well! Aside from the seating situation I think overall the service was pretty good and since I love Indian cuisine Ill definitely come back.

Such great veg Indian food! They don't have a buffet but you can get a thali and enjoy lots of the amazing variety of different dishes.

Unlike many reviews, the service was good. The wait wasn't long. However the "heat" in the dosas and idli accompaniments left us gulping down water, feeling like our bellies and gullets were on fire. With prices keeping up with inflation and then some, it was surprising to see a 6% surcharge on the bill. These niggling things detracted from an otherwise satisfying culinary experience. We had to retreat after lunch to an ice cream shop to douse the flames. A few tweaks is all Chutneys needs to be 5*.

They used to have a location in Clawson, we enjoyed it while it was there. Glad to see they have this location, as their food was quite good, even if it was all vegetarian. We ordered the Chana masala (chickpeas), aloo gobi (cauliflower), bhindi masala (okra), andhra dal (yellow lentils) plain dosa (chickpeas) and the gobi Manchurian (cauliflower breaded in corn starch) for our app. We needed a bit more food since it's all vegetarian and there's no poultry or meat options at all. We made it work. Then again my eyes might be bigger than my stomach since I have been fasting for 18+ hours now. They gave us bottled waters for our water. Their gobi Manchurian is crunchy, has a deep rich flavor, not too sweet, spicy and unbelievably addicting. We both wanted more after only a bite or two. It's so good, nice bites with cilantro too. It's so good, i could definitely eat an entire meal of it. The guy that brought out all of our food didn't have a mask on at all, not good, not even around his neck either. I sat way back in my seat and felt uneasy as he brought us our food, since he had the trays with our food on it. He even spoke to us to let us know more was coming after the first try and then to ask if we needed anything else as well. He had on his mask down a short while later, he must have forgotten and had a brain lapse for a moment or two. The bhindi masala is a bit more stewed and softer than I am used to, it's still good. The dosa is quite crunchy and so good. The lentil is like a crushed lentil soup, it's not bad. The Chana masala is good, as is the aloo gobi. The chana masala has such an appealing and pleasant flavor. It's a bit pricey, but the food was of good quality and was tasty. The owner stopped by our table after we paid the bill to ask how the food was. I told him the food was good, but his one staff member needed to be informed to keep his mask on all of the time. Not a big fan of the soup that comes with the dosa.
